Summary
Weight Watchers has been around since 1963.
Though Weight Watchers
has changed a lot over the years, it has remained steadfast in its goal
of offering weight loss guidance and support while emphasizing a
balanced diet and encouraging exercise. The diet plan is based on a
simple, straightforward point system, called "FlexPoints". Foods are
assigned a certain number of points according to their calorie count,
the number of fat grams they contain, and their fiber content. Dieters
are allotted a certain number of points they can consume daily, which
is determined by their body weight and the number of pounds they want
to lose. This Winning Points system allows dieters to eat any food they
want and still lose weight as long as they don’t exceed their daily
point allotment. To encourage exercise, Weight Watchers also
has a formula by which dieters can trade physical activity for points.
(The idea being, the more active you are, the more you can eat.)
Suited for
Weight Watchers
has meal planning for all age groups. There are many food selections,
but the key to success is planning your menus ahead of time and keeping
your food diary.
Foods
Using the point system and planning guide, your
food selection is endless. Weight Watchers even has a point
system for fast foods.
Support
Dieters
are expected to attend local weekly meetings, which are led by a
trained member. The meetings include a private confidential weigh-in,
and they give dieters a chance to exchange suggestions, ideas and
strategies. Those who don’t have a local Weight Watchers group
or don’t have time to attend one can receive online support.
